Interview with Bianca Mecweld
"...to be reminded daily of the magic and dreams that we all possess"
We met with jewelry designer Bianca Mecweld, whose unique design language combines the power of nature with poetic elegance. Based in Stockholm, she creates handmade jewelry where every detail bears traces of both traditional craftsmanship and a deep feeling for the elements that surround us. Her latest collection, Sultry Nature, draws inspiration from the five elements and lets them take shape in rings that feel as timeless as they are modern.
What inspires your design?
I am inspired by the structures of nature, the elements and by dreams. I also incorporate tarot and astrology as a natural part of my creations.
Can you describe your creative process?
A lot of it for me is about thought and dream processes. Being able to play with the idea of something and sometimes in conversations with others or in experiences/actual dreams - being able to bring it out in the physical - in this case my jewelry. I work mainly in the lost wax method where I melt, shape, file and sculpt the different jewelry before they are cast in silver, polished, stamped by hand and then delivered to the store. All jewelry is made of 100% recycled silver.
How do you want people to feel when wearing your jewelry??
The hope is to be reminded daily of the magic and dreams that we all possess <3
